Card rip sites in August 2026: what they actually returned

Counted from 2,225,463 openings we recorded across 20 sites. These are measurements, not operator claims: we sample the public feeds and add up what came out.

Across the month the sites returned 99.6% of every dollar in card value, gross. That figure is carried by a handful of large hits; 22.5% of individual openings came back worth at least what the pack cost. The highest typical rip among the sites with a solid sample was Gotya, where the middle opening came back at 88.0% of pack price across 49,379 recorded openings.

Typical rip is the median of the month's openings: half came back above it, half below. Gross return is the mean, which a few large hits can carry on their own. Sites with fewer than 200 recorded openings in the month are left out.

Openings are counted where the customer opened them. Several sites run on another site's inventory and draw, and an opening through one of those counts for the storefront, not for the backend. Collector Crypt powers Jupiter Gacha, ONE Arena, Glyde Collectibles, Magic Eden, so that volume appears under those names rather than under Collector Crypt.

Correction, 2026-09-11. Until 1 September 2026 the feeds we read for Jupiter Gacha and Collector Crypt both returned the whole Collector Crypt backend stream rather than each site's own openings, so this month's split between them was wrong. We rebuilt it from the on-chain memo that names the storefront for every opening: 31,149 openings resolved one by one, the remaining 219,671 split in the measured proportion. Return figures for those sites are the backend-wide ones, because they share a single inventory and draw. From September on each site is read separately and nothing is reconstructed.

What changed in the catalogues

New packs, price changes and buyback changes only. Odds move continuously on sites with a live pool, which is a property of the product rather than news.

Method: we sample every operator's public feed of openings and record the card value against the price paid. Duplicate openings from sites that share a backend are counted once. Full method on the methodology page.
