The typical Pokémon rip came back at 80% this week

Retail restocks are back in the news. Here is what the same product actually returned on the rip sites over the last seven days, measured across 521,527 openings.

Retail supply is the story again this week, with coverage of the next Costco restock and which products are expected on shelves (MARCA). That is the shelf price. The other price is what the same cards return when the pack is opened on a rip site, and that is the number we measure.

Across the last seven days we recorded 521,527 Pokémon openings. The typical one, the median, returned 80% of what the pack cost. The average came in at 100.9%, and 22.9% of openings came back at or above the pack price.

The gap between those two numbers is the part worth understanding. A median of 80% and a mean of 100.9% describe a product where most openings lose a fifth of their value and a small number of large hits carry the arithmetic back to roughly break-even. Both figures are correct. Only the median describes what happens to you.

Volume is concentrated. Tilt Rips accounted for 266,871 of those openings, Collector Crypt for 89,876 and Gotya for 53,145. Three sites carry roughly four in five Pokémon openings we see.

Figures from our own sampling of operator feeds, 4 to 11 September 2026: 521,527 Pokémon openings with a known pack price, duplicates and promotional pulls excluded. Median and mean are of value returned against pack price.
